The match took place on September 8 at Frick Up Studio in Gangnam, Seoul. Ji E-dong defeated Kim Kyung-mo (nickname 'Kkaemo-da') and Kim Myeong-won (nickname 'Queen') in consecutive matches to reach the quarterfinals.
Reflecting on his victory, Ji E-dong expressed relief at reaching the Top 8 for a second time in a row after a disappointing exit last season. He noted that while Zerg matchups had felt particularly challenging during the tournament, he believed that breaking through against 'Blood' (the Zerg race) was possible with focused preparation.
Regarding his strategy, Ji E-dong explained that he prioritized securing stable resources in the early game to ensure control over the map. He admitted that while meeting Kim Myeong-won in the final set of their match was not ideal, reaching the Top 8 regardless of the opponent was considered a happy ending.
Looking ahead, Ji E-dong aims to move beyond the quarterfinals and target the championship. He acknowledged that the current season features many Zerg players, making intra-species matches likely, but he remains confident in his ability to compete against any race. His ultimate goal is to win the tournament again.
