iPhone Duo displays are reportedly cracking shortly after launch
The highly anticipated launch of the foldable iPhone Duo has been marred by early reports of hardware failures. Within hours of the device's release, numerous claims have surfaced on social media regarding broken screens, with some users experiencing defects almost immediately after unboxing their new devices.
Early reports of screen failures
A Reddit user, u/Midnight_Slump, reported a display failure after only six hours of use. While these reports are alarming, the defect does not appear to be universal at this stage. Previous durability testing for the iPhone Duo showed positive results under rigorous conditions, suggesting that many users may not encounter this issue.
For those dealing with a defective unit, visiting an Apple Store in person is recommended. According to early experiences, attempting to resolve the issue through remote support can be complicated; for instance, express replacements may require a temporary hold on the full retail price of the phone, and specific delivery timelines remain unconfirmed.
Market outlook
It remains to be seen whether these incidents are isolated manufacturing defects or a broader design flaw. It will likely take several weeks to determine the true frequency of these failures among the initial batch of buyers. However, seeing such issues emerge so early in the product's lifecycle is a concerning development for the foldable market.
