HP OmniBook 5 14 launches with Intel Wildcat Lake and OLED display
HP has introduced the new 14-inch OmniBook 5, powered by Intel Wildcat Lake processors. Starting at $699.99 in the US, the laptop is clearly aiming for the same entry-level market as Apple MacBook Neo.
Display and Key Specs
A standout feature of the OmniBook 5 is the decision to include OLED technology across the entire range, rather than reserving it for premium configurations. The base model features a 14-inch 1920 × 1200 OLED panel with up to 300 nits of brightness. A touchscreen version will also be available at launch. For those seeking higher resolution, a 2560 × 1600 OLED panel with 400 nits of brightness is scheduled for release in March 2027.
The entry-level configuration includes an Intel Core 5 315 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Higher-end models can be configured with an Intel Core 7 350, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Connectivity includes two USB-C ports (up to 10 Gbps), an HDMI port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Design and Availability
In terms of portability, the OmniBook 5 is quite slim, measuring 11.7 mm in thickness and weighing approximately 1.16 kg (2.56 lbs), making it slightly thinner and lighter than the MacBook Neo. The device comes in silver, pink, blue, and green finishes, with a launch scheduled for October.
Additionally, HP is introducing the ProBook 4 G2iS for business users. Also utilizing Wildcat Lake chips, this model will be 12 mm thick and is expected to arrive in December.
