GIGABYTE confirms BIOS support for new LGA1700-Prozessoren: B760 and H610 to remain relevant through 2027

The "Intel" LGA1700 platform, which seemed destined for retirement following the launch of Core Ultra 200S and the new LGA1851 socket, may see an unexpected extension. Motherboard manufacturer GIGABYTE has officially announced that its entire B760 and H610 product range is being prepared to support upcoming LGA1700 processors, which are expected to arrive in early 2027.

BIOS Updates and Memory Compatibility

According to a statement from GIGABYTE on October 9, 2026, the company is preparing BIOS updates to ensure compatibility with these future CPUs. Notably, the support will encompass both DDR4 and DDR5 motherboard configurations. This allows users with existing systems to potentially upgrade their processors via a BIOS update without the need to replace their motherboards or memory modules, provided the hardware revision supports it.

However, BIOS compatibility does not automatically guarantee optimal performance across all models. While B760 boards are common in mid-range and gaming builds, H610 boards are typically found in budget-friendly or office configurations with simpler VRMs (voltage regulator modules) and limited cooling. Using high-power, high-TDP processors on entry-level boards could lead to thermal throttling or power delivery issues under sustained heavy loads.

Uncertainty and Market Context

While the announcement confirms the longevity of the socket, several details remain unconfirmed. GIGABYTE has not specified the architecture, core counts, clock speeds, or power requirements of the upcoming CPUs. It remains to be seen whether these will be the previously rumored "Raptor Lake Next" models or a different series entirely. Additionally, the announcement specifically mentions B760 and H610, leaving the status of other LGA1700 chipsets like Z690 or Z790 unaddressed.

If these processors arrive in 2027, it would mean Intel is supporting the LGA1700 socket for over five years since its introduction in 2021. This move likely serves economic interests by leveraging established manufacturing processes and existing motherboard inventories, providing a cost-effective upgrade path for users currently utilizing the LGA1700 platform.
