Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Adaptation Delayed to 2028
The release window for the anime adaptation based on the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer mode has been pushed to 2028. The announcement was made by Crunchyroll during New York Comic Con 2026.
Originally targeted for a 2027 release, the project has faced a delay, though specific reasons for the shift have not been disclosed. The series will focus on the Legends co-op mode released in 2020 rather than the main Sucker Punch Productions game. This means the narrative will lean heavily into Japanese folklore and supernatural elements, diverging from the realistic period drama of the base game.
The production features a high-profile creative team: Takanobu Mizuno (known for Star Wars: Visions) will direct, with animation handled by Kamikaze Douga. Gen Urobuchi is set to handle series composition and writing alongside Renji Oki. The voice cast includes Mayumi Saco, who played Tomoe in the original game, and Shinya Fukumatsu, though their specific roles remain unannounced.
The project is a collaboration between HAYATE, Aniplex, and PlayStation Productions, with Sony Music serving as the music partner. Keiji Inai will compose the score, with Yoshikazu Iwanami as sound director. The series will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll, with further details regarding the episode count and specific release timing expected at a later date.
