Gag Order is a co-op, SCP-ish horror shooter about surviving against cephalopod creatures
Developers have introduced Gag Order, a co-op horror shooter that leans into an SCP-inspired atmosphere and the struggle against frightening cephalopod creatures. The game promises dynamic gameplay where players must do more than just shoot back—they must survive against opponents that initially seem nearly invincible.
In Gag Order, players take on the roles of Guardian Unit members. The premise begins with a distress signal from one of the core parts of a research complex. Upon arrival, the team finds a rotten and decaying environment, quickly realizing that their equipment is hardly up to the level of the threat they are facing.
The gameplay revolves around dealing with nightmare-inducing, tentacled creatures. Based on available information, runs are divided into phases: during the first phase, the monsters appear invincible, and weapons serve only as a means of defense to hold them off. However, in the second phase, the game shifts into a "fast paced team-bossfight" mode, where the primary objective becomes actively taking these creatures down.
Visually and tonally, the project is reminiscent of 2000s-era shooters updated with contemporary mechanics. The game features a touch of surrealism—such as crows gathering in abandoned office buildings—and a general aesthetic of secret facilities reminiscent of the SCP universe. It shares a similar vibe with games like Lethal Company, focusing on cooperative interaction and a heavy atmosphere. Unlike some other franchises like Halo, where players might feel more empowered, here you are the one being hunted.
Gag Order is scheduled for release in 2026. Currently, the project can be added to your Steam wishlist.
