G2, FURIA, FUT and MOUZ advance to EWC 2026 quarterfinals

The first day of the Esports World Cup 2026 playoffs concluded with four winners advancing to the quarterfinals. All four matches went to three maps with a score of 2:1. In the pairings G2 vs Astralis and FURIA vs Aurora, as well as FUT vs magic and MOUZ vs GamerLegion, the quarterfinal pairings were determined.

In the G2 vs Astralis matchup, the European team managed to defeat the Danish collective on three maps. The match started with the map pick Ancient, where Astralis won the first half convincingly and extended the score to 13-6. However, on the second map, Dust 2, G2 took the upper hand with a score of 13-6, and on the third map Inferno, they won again with a score of 7-5 in the first half and 6-2 in the second. The final match score was 2:1.

In another match, FURIA defeated Aurora. The Brazilians won the first map Ancient in a tight battle with a score of 13-11, despite Aurora winning both halves. On the second map, Nuke, FURIA lost in overtime with a score of 16-14. The third map, Mirage, was completely under FURIA's control, who won it with a score of 13-9.

FUT defeated magic. The Turkish team picked the map Ancient, but FUT managed to win the first half and extend the score to 13-7. On the second map, Anubis, FUT won again with a score of 13-7, and on the third map, Mirage, they won with a score of 13-8.

MOUZ defeated GamerLegion. The German team picked the map Ancient, but GamerLegion managed to win the first half and extend the score to 13-6. On the second map, Dust 2, MOUZ won with a score of 13-6, and on the third map, Inferno, they won with a score of 7-5 in the first half and 6-2 in the second.

In the quarterfinals, G2 will play against FURIA, while FUT will face MOUZ. The winners of the quarterfinals will advance to the semifinals of Esports World Cup 2026.
