G2 fires coach Perkz following social media controversy
G2 Esports has officially announced the dismissal of coach Luka "Perkz" Perković. The decision follows a wave of criticism regarding his recent social media activity.
Perković joined the organization as a coach during the Mid Season Invitational in May and was subsequently promoted to head coach. Although G2's run at Worlds 2026 ended in the Swiss Stage, the players had reportedly given positive feedback regarding his coaching. However, the situation escalated after Perković posted controversial content on sensitive topics, including abortion, on his social media accounts.
In a statement, G2 Esports emphasized that as a diverse and international organization, respecting all perspectives is a core value. The team acknowledged that Perković's remarks were inconsistent with the organization's values and had caused offense to many fans. Consequently, the partnership with the coach has been terminated.
The dismissal comes during a period of significant roster instability for G2. With jungler Skurmond (Lydie Seman) and analyst coach Memento (Jonas Elmargi) also departing, the organization is now focused on rebuilding its lineup for the upcoming season.
