FromSoftware Announces New IP: First Details on Miyazaki's Next Project

In an interview with Japanese outlet Famitsu published May 19, 2026, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that the studio is working on a new IP that is neither a Souls project nor a continuation of existing series.

"We are exploring completely new territory. I can't share details, but I can say this differs from everything we've done before — both thematically and in terms of gameplay. The team is small but highly motivated," Famitsu quotes Miyazaki.

Context

After Shadow of the Erdtree (2024), FromSoftware hasn't announced any new projects. Given that the studio typically works on multiple projects in parallel, a new IP isn't surprising. More intriguing is the emphasis on 'fundamental difference' — this could mean a genre shift or setting change. A formal announcement is unlikely before late 2026.
