Final Fantasy VII Revelation trailer reveals 'The Planet's Crisis' and new gameplay
Square Enix has unveiled the second official trailer and a gallery of new screenshots for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, titled "The Planet's Crisis." This title serves as the third and concluding chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, delivering the long-awaited finale to a 30-year storytelling saga. The footage highlights the return of legendary Weapons, massive guardians that wreak havoc across the world while Cloud Strife and his companions race against time to stop Meteor and Sephiroth.
The trailer showcases the game's expansive open-world design, where the entire planet is freely explorable via the Highwind airship. Players can seamlessly transition from sky to ground using parachutes, grappling hooks, or Chocobo mounts. The narrative focuses on a desperate race against time as the party faces colossal threats in desert sands, mid-air dogfights, and deep underwater environments.
A key new feature introduced in Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the FITS system (Fitting System). This mechanic allows Cloud and Tifa to equip unique outfits that bestow new abilities and unlock specialized roles evoking classic Final Fantasy jobs. Additionally, the game expands its acclaimed hybrid battle system by adding Tactical Mode alongside real-time action combat.
Newcomers can prepare for the finale by playing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, both of which are available now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. These titles have garnered massive critical acclaim, including multiple Game Awards nominations and over 140 perfect review scores.
To reward dedicated fans, players with save data from the previous two entries will unlock special bonuses in Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Completing Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade grants the Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia, while finishing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth unlocks the Phoenix Summon Materia.
