Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on PS5 April 8, 2027
Square Enix confirmed during a PlayStation State of Play broadcast that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch on PS5 on April 8, 2027. The title serves as the final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake Series, concluding the narrative arc established in Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
The announcement accompanied new gameplay footage highlighting the game's open-world design. Players can explore the planet using the Highwind airship and a chocobo companion named Piko. Piko functions as both a mount and a combat ally, gaining new capabilities that assist in traversal and battle as the party progresses.
Combat mechanics have expanded with the introduction of the FITS System (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear). This feature allows for customization of play styles through new uniforms imbued with unique move sets. Four specialized FITS are available: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. These suits alter party members' abilities and combat functions, while also changing the character's appearance.
Additional gameplay features include a dynamic character-switching system that allows players to instantly swap between party members during exploration. A grappling gun has been added to facilitate quick scaling of rooftops and city navigation. Players can also choose which party member takes on specific quests, a decision that impacts how story events and gameplay scenarios unfold.
The minigame Queen's Blood returns with a major new storyline centered on Red XIII. This new campaign introduces powerful opponents and unique gameplay challenges that expand upon the strategic card game's mechanics, offering fresh difficulties for experienced players.
Pre-orders are live on the PlayStation Store. All editions include a special pre-order bonus: the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia. The Premium Edition includes the main game, a Story Expansion Pass, and Early Access, which grants entry to the game 24 hours before release. It also includes an in-game accessory (Reclaimant Choker) and a set of consumable items. The Story Expansion Pass provides access to two story-centered DLCs, with further details to be announced later.
The Premium Plus Edition includes all Premium Edition content, plus a digital art book, a digital mini soundtrack, the Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia, an in-game armor set (Nymphwing Bracelet), and an in-game accessory (Risk Taker's Choker).
