FACEIT retains halftime all-chat for Season 9

FACEIT has confirmed that the halftime all-chat feature will remain enabled for the remainder of Season 9, extending the brief window where players from opposing teams can communicate during matches.

The PUG platform previously conducted a trial of this functionality between August 5th and August 12th. Following what appeared to be a mixed reception from the community, FACEIT decided to evaluate next steps rather than immediately removing the tool. Ultimately, they have chosen to retain the feature throughout the current season.

A primary concern raised by streamers during the trial was the risk of harassment and potential bans on platforms like Twitch or Kick if opponents engaged in bad behavior while chat was open. Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer, a CS:GO legend and Major winner, previously noted that the feature felt "scary to stream" due to the unknown nature of what players might say during the side switch.

For viewers or players wishing to avoid hearing voice comms from the opposing team, FACEIT has clarified that the feature can be easily disabled by entering the console command cl_mute_enemy_team 1. This ensures that those uncomfortable with the open chat environment can still opt out without issue.
