ENCE to file for bankruptcy after 13 years in Counter-Strike
ENCE has announced that it will file for bankruptcy following a decision by its board of directors. This marks the end of an era for one of the most iconic names in Finnish esports.
The collapse follows a period of severe financial instability. Recent statements revealed that the club suffered losses of nearly €940,000 in 2025, leaving the bank balance at under €2,000 by year-end. Revenue plummeted by 59.8% from €6.31 million in 2023 to just €1.32 million in 2025, largely attributed to poor results from the international roster and the conclusion of the ESL partnership program.
The organization's journey in Counter-Strike 2 and its predecessor was defined by significant highs. The club reached its peak in 2019 when the all-Finnish lineup led by Aleksib reached the IEM Katowice Major final. After a successful run in 2023 under Snappi, the core was sold to Falcons in early 2024, leading to a series of rebuilds. Despite promoting the Finnish academy and appointing allu as head coach in June 2026, the team currently sits 103rd in the Valve global rankings.
Efforts to stabilize the finances, including cutting personnel costs by €466,000 in 2025 and a 15% stake purchase by poker player Riku Vihreäsaari, were insufficient to offset the mounting debts and the loss of major revenue streams.
