Diablo 2 mod brings the classic to virtual reality
The legendary action-RPG Diablo 2 has found an unexpected way to enter virtual reality. A modder known as Sergious has developed a modification that shifts the game's traditional isometric perspective to a first-person view.
Footage shared on Reddit showcases a Sorceress navigating environments and battling zombies and other enemies from a direct perspective. The mod features an intuitive VR interface: health and mana pools are displayed on the character's left forearm, while the inventory, map, and toolbar are positioned on the character's belt or held in hand.
Sergious created the mod using FlatVR and BodyWalk, though the latter is reportedly not required to play. The mod files are currently available on Github for anyone interested in testing the experience.
This shift in perspective significantly alters the series' atmosphere. While the original game positions the player as an observer looking down from above, the VR mod places them directly within the dark, immersive world. It is a striking technical achievement that offers a completely new way to experience the classic title.
