Decapolis: Details on Level Five's RPG from TGS2026
At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Level Five showcased gameplay for their upcoming crime-suspense RPG, Decapolis. Originally announced for a 2023 release, the project is now targeting a 2027 launch. Available on PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, the title blends detective investigation with tactical turn-based combat.
The story is set in the futuristic metropolis of Broadstone. Players step into the shoes of Harvard Marks (voiced by Soma Saito), a 20-year-old detective leading a specialized task force. A core mechanic involves DECASIM, a futuristic investigation technology that can recreate past criminal events within a virtual world. However, a technical glitch in the system causes citizens and NPCs to undergo a "puppetization" process, adding a layer of mystery to the narrative.
The gameplay loop follows a structured investigative process. Players use the DECA Scanner to uncover evidence and gather intelligence through dialogue, leveraging the unique skills of their team members. This leads to a deduction phase on an investigation board, where players must piece together clues and relationships like a puzzle. The climax of an investigation involves turn-based combat, where players must manage the criminal's emotional state. Through the "Mind Attack" system, players can manipulate emotions like anger or fear to trigger status changes and enter a high-damage ZONE mode.
In addition to the game itself, Decapolis is slated for a simultaneous release alongside an anime adaptation. The project remains in active development as it moves toward its 2027 window.
