Cherry Xtrfy launches solid-shell M42V2 ultralight mouse
Cherry Xtrfy has unveiled the M42V2, a new addition to its ultralight gaming mouse lineup, debuting at Gamescom this week. This model introduces a redesigned modular rear shell and positions itself as an affordable entry into the refreshed series.
The M42V2 retains the symmetrical shape of its predecessor but features a completely new solid-shell design. Unlike many competitors that rely on perforated bodies to reduce weight, Cherry Xtrfy opted for a matte UV-coated chassis paired with UHMW-PE feet. The modular rear shell is a key differentiator: it snaps on and off without tools, allowing users to switch between two included options—one with a pronounced hump and one with a flatter profile—to suit their preference.
Under the hood, the mouse utilizes a PixArt 3327 sensor. It supports CPI settings ranging from 400 to 6200 and operates at a 1000Hz polling rate. While it lacks some advanced features found in higher-end models, this approach allows Cherry Xtrfy to offer the device at a competitive price point.
The M42V2 weighs just 45g, making it one of the lightest solid-shell mice currently available. It is priced at £39.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 and becomes available starting this week.
