Chaos Zero Nightmare Celebrates 1st Anniversary with Season 5
Smilegate has officially announced the first anniversary update for Chaos Zero Nightmare, the dark fantasy roguelike RPG developed by Super Creative. The update marks the launch of the fifth season of "Galactic Disaster," titled "A Promise Upon the Snow," and introduces a new playable character, Rossweisse.
The new season's story begins as the Captain's crew arrives at the Chaos zone known as "Celestial Bulwark," where they will encounter new characters and uncover mysteries surrounding the deity Diallos. Alongside the narrative progression, players can engage in the "Nightmare Dream Park" mini-game, a facility-building mode designed to generate profit through Combatant satisfaction. The new character, Rossweisse, is a Justice-attribute Striker whose design incorporates traditional Obangsaek motifs and a Saingeom-inspired weapon. Her gameplay revolves around her core card, "Flickering Sword," which splits into "Light" and "Dark" cards at opposite ends of the player's hand, allowing for powerful skill triggers through specific card interactions.
System Enhancements and Customization
Responding to player feedback, the update introduces several quality-of-life improvements and new mechanics:
- Exploration Passive: Partners now provide beneficial effects to the entire party during Chaos and Sortie gameplay. 4-Star Partners grant 2 buffs, while 5-Star Partners grant 3.
- Select Divine Epiphany: A new feature allowing players to apply specific god's Epiphany to cards when editing Save Data.
- Cosmetic Upgrades: The official implementation of "Card Skins" to change card illustrations, and the introduction of "Special" grade outfits, which feature unique animations, exclusive cards, and dozens of new voice lines.
To celebrate the milestone, the "Nightmare Festival" will run until December 2. During this period, players can claim 10 free Rescues daily (70 total), along with login rewards including a 5-Star Combatant and Partner Selection Ticket and 1,600 Crystals.
