Busan Wins Presidential Cup KeG After 15 Years
In the final of the 18th Presidential Cup KeG, Busan secured the championship title. The event concluded on Saturday, August 16, at the Gyeongju Indoor Gymnasium in North Gyeongsang Province.
Busan took first place overall with a score of 168 points. In League of Legends, they defeated the team from South Jeolla Province with a set score of 2:0, while finishing second in Eternal Return.
The city of Daejeon secured second place overall by winning the tournament in FC Online (130 points). The team from Jeju Special Self-Governing Province rounded out the top three, taking victory in Brawl Stars with 108 points.
In the final for Eternal Return, Sejong City emerged victorious, reaching the checkpoint on the sixth round. In Brawl Stars, the team from Jeju Special Self-Governing Province achieved a remarkable comeback to defeat the team from South Gyeongsang Province.
The final for FC Online was a tight contest that extended into overtime after two sets, concluding with a penalty shootout. Player Lee Ju-hyun from Daejeon emerged victorious against player Im Ji-yong from Ulsan.
In the strategy game Puyo Puyo Esports, victory was secured by player Jung Hee-woong. The match was intense and went to the ninth set, which ultimately decided the winner.
Winners in each discipline received awards from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Second and third places were awarded prizes from the Director of the Korea Creative Content Agency and the President of the Korea e-Sports Association, respectively. The total prize pool was 28 million won.
The MVPs for each discipline were: Kim Han-bin from Sejong City (Eternal Return), Pak Sung-yeon from Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (Brawl Stars), Lee Ju-hyun from Daejeon (FC Online), Jung Ha-neul from Busan (League of Legends), and Jung Hee-woong (Puyo Puyo Esports). As a prize, the MVPs received CDiES Gaming Chair GC PRO gaming chairs.
At the closing ceremony at Gyeongju Indoor Gymnasium, the flag for the next tournament was passed to Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province, where the 19th Presidential Cup KeG will be held in 2027. The 18th Presidential Cup KeG was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote balanced regional e-sports development and support amateur players.
