Bride gifts groom ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 at wedding
A Chinese bride made headlines by gifting her groom an ASUS ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 during their wedding ceremony. While the card's original MSRP was significantly lower, social media reports suggest the gift's value reached approximately $12,000.
The reason behind the $12,000 price tag
The massive discrepancy between the retail price and the wedding gift's value is driven by market dynamics. At launch in the US, the ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 was priced at $2,799.99, compared to the standard NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 MSRP of $1,999. However, several factors have pushed secondary market prices to extreme levels.
Key drivers for this price surge include:
- Supply issues: There are reports suggesting that RTX 5090 production may be winding down, despite denials from NVIDIA.
- Export restrictions: Due to US export controls, standard RTX 5090 models are not officially available in China, making them highly sought-after and expensive imports.
A recurring trend
This is not the first time an RTX 5090 has appeared at a Chinese wedding. In October 2025, another bride presented her fiancé with an ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 after he successfully solved a mathematical puzzle.
