In the story, the protagonist, Matsushita, is on leave from work and is asked to sort photos intended for a TV special on paranormal photography. As they distinguish between ordinary and haunted images, their reality begins to deteriorate. The narrative is driven by recurring nightmares, endless sorting tasks, and mysterious visitors.

Players engage in more than just photo sorting; they must also handle interactions with eccentric guests and decipher cryptic emails. The developers describe the experience as a slow-burn, atmospheric horror that avoids jump scares in favor of a creeping sense of dread.

BLACKOUT: Fatal Exposure is developed by UMINEKOwalKing and published by Glowstick Entertainment. It is a single-player title focused on horror and occult themes.
