ASUS Unveils ROG Strix XG27ACMESR: A Triple-Mode Monitor with Up to 550 Hz
ASUS has revealed the new ROG Strix XG27ACMESR, a gaming monitor designed to offer users significant flexibility through its "triple-mode" refresh rate capability. This feature allows players to prioritize either visual fidelity or extreme motion clarity depending on their gaming needs.
The 27-inch monitor utilizes a Fast-IPS panel with a native WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution. Its standout feature is the ability to switch between three distinct refresh rate modes: WQHD at 280 Hz, Full HD (1920 x 1080) at 365 Hz, and HD (1280 x 720) at a maximum of 550 Hz. While this provides a massive advantage in competitive gaming by reducing input lag, users should note that changing resolutions will likely require a game restart.
On the technical side, the device supports ELMB-Sync, enabling the simultaneous use of adaptive sync technologies (FreeSync Premium and G-Sync Compatible) alongside motion blur reduction. To combat ghosting, Variable Overdrive 2.0 dynamically adjusts the overdrive settings based on the current frame rate.
The display features 10-bit color depth (likely 8-bit + FRC), a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and a peak brightness of 400 cd/m². It carries a DisplayHDR-400 certification, which offers entry-level HDR performance. The monitor's power consumption is rated at under 21 W.
Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort, and USB-C (supporting DP Alt Mode and 15 W Power Delivery). The stand offers comprehensive ergonomics, including height adjustment (up to 110 mm), tilt, pivot, and swivel. The ROG Strix XG27ACMESR is expected to launch in Europe in early 2027. Pricing has not yet been announced.
