ASUS Unveils NUC 14 Essential Fanless: Silent Mini-PC for 24/7 Operation
ASUS is expanding its entry-level NUC 14 Essential lineup with a new fanless variant. By replacing the traditional fan with a large internal heatsink, this mini-PC is designed to dissipate heat silently, making it ideal for continuous, noise-free operation.
The silent design is made possible by the extremely low power consumption of the underlying Intel processors. The current specifications list three options: the N100 (Alder Lake-N) and the newer N150 and N250 from the Twin-Lake-N series. All three CPUs feature four cores and a TDP of just 6 W, which is low enough to allow for passive cooling in this compact form factor.
Graphics performance scales with the chosen chip. The N100 and N150 feature integrated graphics with 24 execution units (EUs) clocked at 750 MHz and 1 GHz, respectively. The higher-tier N250 steps up to 32 EUs with a boost clock of up to 1.25 GHz. Despite the lack of a fan, the system remains highly capable for multi-display setups, supporting up to three 4K displays simultaneously via HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C (DP 1.4).

Key hardware specifications include:
- One DDR5-SODIMM slot, supporting up to 16 GB at 4800 MT/s;
- One M.2 M-Key slot (PCIe 3.0 x4) for NVMe SSDs;
- An additional M.2-2242 slot for SATA-based storage;
- Connectivity featuring 2.5 GbE (Realtek), Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.

To support its positioning for continuous operation, ASUS notes that the device has passed MIL-STD-810H testing for temperature, humidity, shock, and vibration. The unit measures 135 × 115 × 45 mm (without rubber feet) and weighs approximately 1.19 kg when fully configured.
Currently, the NUC 14 Essential Fanless is only announced. Pricing and official availability dates have not yet been disclosed. The series will be offered both as complete mini-PCs and as Barebone kits (excluding RAM and storage).
