The iOS 27.0.1 update is primarily focused on the newly released iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The update addresses several specific issues reported by users, including unexpected restarts when Face ID fails to recognize a user, and color artifacts occurring during 2x zoom at an f/1.48 aperture under certain lighting conditions. Additionally, Apple fixed a bug where simultaneously opening the Control Center and the Notification Center would cause the devices to freeze.

Updates are also available for the rest of the ecosystem: watchOS 27.0.1, iPadOS 27.0.1, and macOS 27.0.1. While watchOS 27.0.1 is now available for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, the updates for other watchOS 27 devices consist of minor bug fixes that have not been individually detailed by the company.

Security and Legacy Support

For users who have not yet upgraded to the 27-series, Apple has released iOS 26.7.1. This update is critical as it addresses an out-of-bounds write vulnerability. According to Apple, this flaw could allow arbitrary code execution via a maliciously crafted file. The company noted that this vulnerability has already been exploited in highly sophisticated, targeted attacks against specific individuals on versions prior to iOS 27.

Security patches were also issued for macOS Sequoia 15.8.1 to address the same issue. Notably, the newer 27-series operating systems are not affected by this specific vulnerability.

While these updates do not introduce new features, Apple is already testing iOS 27.2 in public beta. This upcoming version is expected to bring more significant changes, including new AI-driven capabilities within the Health app.
