AOC AGP277KXM: 5K-Mini-LED monitor with 180 Hz and DisplayPort 2.1

AOC has expanded its AGON lineup with the AGP277KXM, a 27-inch 5K-Mini-LED monitor that pairs a 5,120 × 2,880 pixel resolution with a 180 Hz refresh rate. The display also offers a secondary mode at 2,560 × 1,440 pixels and up to 360 Hz, targeting users who prioritize high frame rates over maximum sharpness.

The 5K resolution on a 27-inch panel results in a pixel density of approximately 218 ppi. This high density is intended to make text, UI elements, and fine image details appear significantly sharper compared to standard 27-inch QHD or 4K displays. The QHD mode serves as an alternative for users who value a particularly high refresh rate over maximum screen clarity.

Mini-LED backlight and color performance

For backlighting, AOC uses Mini-LED technology with 2,304 local dimming zones. The manufacturer states an HDR peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits and a VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification. The high number of zones is designed to highlight bright areas of an image while darkening dark areas more effectively. The AGP277KXM also features a Quantum Dot layer. AOC claims 98% coverage of both the DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces. In the intended color mode, the color deviation (Delta E) is stated to be below 1. However, independent measurements are not yet available, so these values should initially be considered manufacturer specifications.

According to the datasheet, the Fast-IPS panel achieves a static contrast ratio of 1,500:1 and a minimum gray-to-gray response time of 0.5 milliseconds. In addition to variable refresh rate support, the monitor features a motion blur reduction function.

Connectivity and availability

The model stands out with DisplayPort 2.1 featuring UHBR20, which reaches a theoretical raw data rate of 80 Gbit/s. It also includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode and up to 65 W Power Delivery. AOC has integrated three 5 Gbit/s USB ports, a USB upstream port, a 3.5 mm audio output, and a KVM switch. Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture are also supported. The stand is height-adjustable and can be rotated, tilted, and swiveled into portrait mode.

The AGP277KXM was initially introduced for the Chinese market. AOC has not yet announced a price or a confirmed release date for Germany and other European countries.
