AOC Unveils Agon Pro AGP257FT: 1050 Hz Fast-IPS Display

AOC has announced the Agon Pro AGP257FT, a new gaming and e-sports monitor. This 24.5-inch Fast-IPS panel is capable of reaching refresh rates up to 1050 Hz (1000 Hz native via overclocking) at Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080). The device is designed to meet the rigorous demands of competitive gaming where motion clarity is paramount.

Technical Specs and Motion Clarity

While OLED panels are typically preferred for such high refresh rates due to their rapid response times, AOC is utilizing an optimized Fast-IPS technology. To combat potential ghosting or smearing—common issues when pushing IPS panels to extreme frequencies—the monitor features MBR+. This anti-blur tool allows for zone-based backlight control to minimize motion artifacts.

Key specifications include:

  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080 (16:9);
  • Response time: 0.3 ms (GtG);
  • Brightness: 450 cd/m² (DisplayHDR-400 certified);
  • Color gamut: 99% sRGB and 90% DCI-P3;
  • Contrast ratio: 1000:1;
  • Color depth: 8-bit.

To prevent screen tearing, the monitor supports Adaptive Sync with G-Sync compatibility. Additionally, it supports PiP (Picture-in-Picture) and PbP (Picture-by-Picture) modes, enabling users to view content from multiple devices simultaneously.

Connectivity and Ergonomics

The I/O selection features one DisplayPort 2.1 (likely UHBR20 supporting 80 Gbps bandwidth), two HDMI 2.1 inputs, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub with three Type-A and one Type-B ports. The stand offers comprehensive ergonomics, including 150 mm height adjustment, tilt, pivot, and swivel functions. A QuickSwitch remote is also included for rapid setting adjustments.

The Agon Pro AGP257FT is expected to be available in Germany starting Q1 2027. While the official MSRP is yet to be confirmed, industry estimates suggest a price point near €1,000. The monitor has a typical power consumption of 29 W.
