AMD Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 leaked with 8-core CPU and 16-CU GPU

AMD appears to be expanding its mobile lineup with a new AMD Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 processor. Leaked details suggest this chip will combine a reduced CPU core count with a high-end integrated graphics configuration, targeting a more affordable position within the Ryzen AI 400 series.

Full 16-CU graphics with fewer CPU cores

According to a report from Golden Pig Upgrade (via Weibo), the rumored AMD Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 will feature 8 cores and 16 threads. The most significant aspect of this leak is the GPU configuration: the chip is expected to include 16 compute units (CU) within the Radeon 890M graphics, matching the capabilities of the higher-tier models.

This represents a notable step up from the existing 8-core Ryzen AI 7 450, which is limited to 8 CUs and 16 MB of L3 cache. The HX 455 is expected to feature 24 MB of L3 cache, bringing its memory subsystem in line with the 12-core flagship models. This setup closely resembles the Ryzen Z2 Extreme found in gaming handhelds, though the HX 455 would benefit from a larger L3 cache.

Positioning in the Ryzen AI 400 series

Currently, the Ryzen AI 400 HX series includes the Ryzen AI 9 HX 475 and HX 470, both of which utilize 12 cores and deliver between 55 and 60 TOPS of NPU performance.

If the leak is accurate, the HX 455 would serve as a third standard HX model, offering a balance of high-performance integrated graphics and efficient multi-core processing. However, several key specifications remain unconfirmed, including CPU and GPU boost clocks, exact NPU performance, and the specific power envelope (TDP). AMD has not officially commented on these rumors.
