Asian Games Day 1: Thailand Leads, South Korea Struggles in 6th
Thailand emerged as the sole leader after the first day of the Battlegrounds Mobile competition at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, surpassing tournament favorites from China. Meanwhile, South Korea failed to secure a chicken dinner, ending the day in 6th place.
At the Aichi Sky Expo, Thailand secured 75 points to claim the top spot. Indonesia followed in 3rd place with 55 points, while South Korea finished the day with 38 points. This gap between the leaders and the Korean squad will likely necessitate tactical adjustments heading into the second day of competition.
The matches saw varying levels of performance. In the first round on Erangel, South Korea performed well, finishing 3rd after the 8th round. However, the team struggled in subsequent rounds, including a match on Miramar where they failed to climb back into the top tier. In the final 6th round, South Korea managed to reach 6th place, but ultimately lost a decisive grenade duel against Thailand in the final showdown, missing out on the round victory.
