Acer shifts Predator Atlas 8 rollout: 24GB model first, 32GB delayed

The shipping schedule for Acer's Predator Atlas 8 handheld appears to have shifted. According to UK preorder data, the company is prioritizing the release of the 24GB memory configuration, pushing the launch of the 32GB flagship model back by several weeks.

Timeline shifts and memory configurations

Reports from users indicate that the countdown for the premium 32GB configuration on Acer's UK site shows approximately 43 days remaining. This is a significant delay compared to roughly 15 days reported about a month ago, suggesting the release has been pushed back by more than a month. This top-tier model features 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, and a 1TB SSD, priced at £1,500.

In contrast, the more affordable £1,300 model is already available for preorder. Crucially, this version retains the high-performance Arc B390 graphics (based on the Xe3 architecture) and the 1TB SSD, but scales down the RAM to 24GB. This allows users to access Acer's fastest handheld processing power without the extra £200 premium required for the 32GB option.

Comparison with MSI

This rollout strategy contrasts with MSI's approach for the Claw 8 EX AI+. MSI focused its initial launch on the 32GB configuration. Their cheaper alternative, recently appearing for preorder in the US at $1,499, offers a compromise in both memory and graphics: it features 32GB of RAM but utilizes a 10-core Xe3 GPU instead of the 12-core Arc B390. Consequently, Acer's strategy provides immediate access to superior graphics performance, even if it comes with less total memory.
