Acer Predator Atlas 8: New Gaming Handheld Powered by Intel Arc
Acer announces the Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld, featuring Intel Arc graphics and TMR joysticks, starting at €1,299.
Acer has officially announced the launch of the Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld. Following its first appearance at Computex 2026, the device is now confirmed with specific hardware configurations and a starting price, aiming to establish a presence in the competitive handheld market using Intel's latest graphics technology.
The Atlas 8 offers two distinct Intel-based configurations. Users can choose between a standard version featuring Intel Arc B370 graphics and a higher-performance variant equipped with the Intel Arc B390 (part of the Intel Arc G3 Extreme lineup). Both models support hardware ray tracing and Intel XeSS 3 upscaling, which is essential for maintaining playable frame rates in modern titles on mobile hardware.
Display and Control Features
The device features an 8-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 (16:10 aspect ratio) and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Acer specifies a brightness of 500 nits and 100% sRGB color coverage. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and Gorilla Glass DXC. Notably, the display supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to ensure smoother gameplay during fluctuations in performance.
To combat the common issue of stick drift, Acer has implemented TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) joysticks. The L2 and R2 analog triggers utilize Hall Effect technology and include a physical switch to toggle between short travel for shooters and long travel for racing or flight simulators. Additional controls include customizable macro buttons and a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button.
Technical Specifications and Pricing
Under the hood, the handheld supports up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM at 7467 MT/s and up to a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD. The cooling system utilizes a dual-fan setup, consisting of one metal Predator AeroBlade fan and one plastic fan. Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD card reader (supporting SD 4.0), and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Wireless standards include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Pricing for the Predator Atlas 8 starts at an MSRP of €1,299 for the entry-level configuration (Intel Arc G3 with a 512 GB SSD). The high-end model, featuring the Intel Arc G3 Extreme and a 1 TB SSD, is priced at €1,599.
