Xbox to cut hundreds of jobs and consolidate studios
Xbox plans to lay off hundreds of employees this week, marking the second major staff reduction for the division this year. According to a report by The Information, the company also intends to consolidate several of its game studios.
This move follows significant restructuring in July, when Xbox eliminated 1,600 roles and divested five studios. The company previously committed to cutting an additional 1,600 positions by the end of the 2027 fiscal year.
In a separate development, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier stated on the 8-4 Play podcast that layoffs at Blizzard Entertainment are “imminent.” These reports come as the studio continues to develop major titles, including STARCRAFT, Diablo V, and World of Warcraft: Forever.
