Venomous Terminids: New Noxious Subspecies Coming to Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 shows no signs of slowing down. According to a recent interview with Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt, the title will remain the studio's main priority for the foreseeable future. As Super Earth prepares for more galactic defense, the next update is set to introduce an entirely new Terminid subspecies: the Noxious Terminids.
The new threats are categorized into two main types. First are the Noxious Scavengers. These are high-speed creatures armed with deadly poison. While dangerous, they are relatively fragile, making area-of-effect weapons like flamethrowers and explosives the recommended way to prevent being overrun.
The second type is the Noxious Spewer. Despite its larger size, it remains fast and is equipped with a web projectile that can immobilize a Helldiver, leaving them vulnerable to a fatal bite. Additionally, attacking its soft underbelly causes the creature to explode, covering a wide area in web fluid.
The bites from these creatures introduce a new damage-over-time (DoT) effect. Poisoning can cause blurred vision, slowed movement, and gradual health depletion, adding a significant layer of danger to combat encounters.
Beyond new enemies, the update will expand environmental hazards. Bug caves will now be found across many more worlds, leading players into low-visibility tunnels and claustrophobic dead ends.
