Total War: WARHAMMER 3 mod creator deliberately corrupts files to protest AI-infused reuploads
The lead developer behind a major Total War: WARHAMMER 3 overhaul has intentionally corrupted the mod's files. This move comes as a protest against the rising number of unauthorized reuploads of SFO: Grimhammer 3 that utilize artificial intelligence.
In a Patreon post, the creator known as Venris explained that the decision was made to prevent the mod from functioning in unauthorized versions. The developer emphasized that SFO: Grimhammer 3 is the result of nearly ten years of passion and work, and they do not permit anyone to take the work without permission, particularly for AI-related purposes. "Support modders, not AI," Venris stated.
The developer warned that if the situation involving unauthorized reuploads continues to escalate, SFO: Grimhammer 3 will be made private. However, they clarified that they have no intention of placing the mod behind a paywall. Official updates will continue to be released exclusively via Steam Workshop, as per the established practice.
The SFO (Simply Fun Overhaul) series focuses on making Total War: WARHAMMER 3 more lore-friendly while maintaining engaging combat mechanics. The most recent major update for the series was titled Call of Bretonnia.
