The Witcher 3 Remastered Announced for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC

A Comprehensive Remaster Across All Platforms

The remastered version will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Battle.net. For players who already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, or PC via the supported storefronts, the upgrade to the Remastered edition is completely free. This initiative ensures that fans can experience the latest iteration of Geralt's story without additional cost.

New Features and Gameplay Enhancements

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered introduces a significant suite of upgrades designed to modernize the original experience. The update includes enhanced visuals and improved performance across all supported hardware. Combat mechanics have been refined, while traversal and movement systems receive improvements to make navigation through the world more fluid.

Beyond standard quality-of-life changes, the game features new witcher signs effects and a revamped mount handling system. Monster behaviors have been enhanced for greater immersion, and the skill tree has received a complete overhaul. Players can also look forward to transmogrification options, an expanded photo mode, and new finishers.

Expansion 'Songs of the Past' Teased

Alongside the remaster announcement, CD Projekt RED and Fool's Theory released a teaser trailer for Songs of the Past. The expansion will introduce a brand new region called Letten. This idyllic land is rich in rural tradition and folklore, where inhabitants enjoy bountiful harvests and lavish festivals.

However, the trailer hints that a dark secret lurks beneath the surface of this peaceful setting. Geralt will face never-before-seen foes as he fights to overcome long-dormant evil within this new area. The expansion is expected to arrive in 2027.

Existing Expansions Become Free

In a significant surprise for the community, all current owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will gain access to the original two expansions—Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine—for free. This offer was announced on stage by Gamescom Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley, allowing players to experience these critically acclaimed stories ahead of the Remastered launch.

Partnership with Blizzard Entertainment

CD Projekt RED has also announced a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment to bring the remaster and Songs of the Past to Battle.net. As part of this collaboration, players who purchase the expansion on Blizzard's platform will unlock a special Geralt-inspired skin in Diablo IV. Further details regarding the partnership are expected to be shared when CD Projekt RED attends BlizzCon in September.

CD Projekt RED is currently hosting guided presentations of Songs of the Past and the Remastered upgrade throughout Gamescom in Hall 8.1 of the entertainment area. For those unable to attend in person, special REDstreams will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch, diving into specific areas of both projects.
