The Saros: Zenith update out today
Starting today, October 19, the Zenith update is available for all Saros owners at no additional charge. Housemarque designed this update with two primary goals: increasing replayability for veterans and improving accessibility for newcomers to the high-speed combat of Saros.
Accessibility is a major focus of the update. To help players manage the intense projectile patterns, a new Slow Game Speed setting has been added, allowing players to slow down the action to better react to enemy telegraphs without changing the underlying combat mechanics. Additionally, the Auto-fire feature allows weapons to fire automatically when aiming at a hostile, reducing the physical strain of holding down buttons. These options are complemented by existing button remapping and new motion sensor aiming functionality.

For veteran players, Zenith introduces Eclipse Layers, a New Game+ mode. After completing the main game, players can access new nodes in the Armor Matrix to enter more intense versions of the game with altered rules. This mode heavily utilizes the expanded Carcosan Modifiers system. The update adds 10 new Protection Modifiers, such as Corruption Melee Enhancement—which turns accumulated Corruption into massive melee damage—and 10 new Trial Modifiers, including Hostile Regeneration, which requires melee strikes to finish off large enemies.

Mastery in the Eclipse Layers is visually represented by a growing crown on Arjun; the more Trial Modifiers a player takes on, the more splendid and golden the crown becomes. This crown also serves as a key to discovering 12 Visions—ancient murals and messages hidden throughout Carcosa that reveal more of the game's lore.

Finally, the Overlord Rush mode offers a high-stakes training simulation. Players race to dispatch powerful Overlords to climb global leaderboards. The mode features several sets: the Incursion and Ascension sets (three bosses each) and the ultimate Totality set, which presents all eight Overlords in a continuous gauntlet. Leaderboards can be filtered by the player's chosen main weapon, allowing for specialized competition.
