Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two updates and DLC announced
SEGA has officially announced the roadmap for the second year of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Starting November 3, 2026, the game will receive significant content updates, including a new competitive mode and a series of high-profile crossover DLC packs.
The centerpiece of the update is the new Duel Mode, a 1v1 racing experience centered around the Duel Boost mechanic. This gauge fills over time and through item usage, allowing players to execute strategic bursts of speed. The mode will feature several variations: Rival Duel Matches against CPU opponents for rewards, free online matchmaking, competitive Best-of-10 events with ranks and medals, and customizable Friend Matches.
The gadget system is also getting a major upgrade with the introduction of the Grand Master Plate. This new component adds a 7th “Super Slot” for 1-slot gadgets, significantly amplifying their effects. Additionally, all characters released post-launch (since September 25, 2025) will now appear as CPU racers in both offline and online modes.
Free content for Year Two includes three new racers: Bayonetta (available November 3, 2026, via Rival Duel matches), a McLaren Racing machine (available later in November 2026), and Aigis from Persona (expected early 2027). Each character release will be accompanied by a ten-day Limited Time Event Festival.
The Season Pass Two will offer six premium DLC packs:
- Godzilla Pack (November 3, 2026) — featuring the Godzilla Escape course and machines like King Ghidorah Coupe;
- EVANGELION Pack (January 2027) — including the Tokyo-III course and racers Rei Ayanami and Asuka Shikinami Langley;
- Virtual Sanrio Puroland Pack (Q2 2027) — featuring Hello Kitty and Kuromi;
- SEGALAND Pack (Q3 2027) — themed after classic SEGA titles like OutRun;
- Midgar Pack (working title, based on Final Fantasy VII Remake, Q3 2027);
- Reload Revival Royal Pack (based on Persona, Q4 2027).
In a move to attract new players, SEGA is permanently reducing the price of the Standard Edition to $39.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition to $59.99. A physical Year One Edition will also be available for $59.99, featuring the first year's content and special anniversary memorabilia.
