Co-op roguelite Shape of Dreams launches on PS5

The co-op roguelite Shape of Dreams from Lizard Smoothie is officially launching on PlayStation 5. The release is accompanied by the studio's largest update to date, The Starless Path, which introduces new content, a new playable character, and expanded progression mechanics.

Gameplay in Shape of Dreams centers on fast-paced, aggressive combat. Players take control of one of nine unique Travelers to descend into the Rapids, a procedurally reshaping dream world. The core of the combat lies in the synergy between Memories and Essences. With over 200 combinations available, players can fundamentally rewrite how abilities function—such as turning a single-target attack into an area-of-effect ability—allowing for highly customized runs.

Progress in the game is persistent through the Constellation system, where accumulated growth remains after a run ends. The The Starless Path update, which is also available for PC players, introduces a new Traveler named Cetus. This ranged frost tank is designed to control the battlefield with ice and provide shields for the party.

The update also introduces The Way of Stars, a system that weaves character stories through hidden episodes and illustrations, culminating in a new final boss. Additionally, the introduction of Fallen Stars and Faded Memories allows players to equip one of six Universal Identity Memories, offering a new way to specialize their Travelers beyond their innate traits.

For cooperative play, the game supports up to four-player online parties. Full cross-play is active at launch, allowing PS5 users to join lobbies with players on PC and other consoles seamlessly.
