Sapphire releases firmware updates for Radeon-RX-7000-Serie
In a surprising move, Sapphire has released new vBIOS updates for its Radeon-RX-7000-Serie graphics cards. According to the manufacturer, these firmware updates are intended to fix potential security vulnerabilities and simultaneously improve device stability and compatibility.
The manufacturer stated that they are working closely with technology partners, primarily AMD, to identify potential vulnerabilities early and provide the necessary updates. For all supported GPU models, Sapphire has made firmware update tools and installation guides available. Users are encouraged to keep their graphics card firmware up to date to benefit from security patches as well as potential improvements in performance and stability.
However, Sapphire has not provided any specific details regarding the nature of the security vulnerabilities being addressed. Currently, Sapphire is the only manufacturer taking this step for this series. A review of other major vendors, including ASRock, ASUS, Gigabyte, PowerColor, XFX, and Acer, shows no such support documentation or updates available at this time.
