Samsung Galaxy Book6 with Intel Wildcat Lake starts at $799
Samsung has expanded its Galaxy Book6 lineup with a more affordable 14-inch model built around "Intel" Core Series 3 processors. The new laptop starts at $799.99 in the US and targets a lower price point than the premium variant announced earlier this year, offering a lighter chassis and a larger battery, though with reduced memory and storage options in the base configuration.
The new Galaxy Book6 is powered by Intel Core 3 or Core 5 Series 3 processors, which the source identifies as Wildcat Lake chips based on the NPU performance. The base configuration includes 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 256GB PCIe SSD. While Samsung offers 16GB of memory and up to 1TB of storage globally, the US launch configuration currently lists only 256GB and 512GB storage options. The display is a 14-inch 1920×1200 LCD panel rated at 350 nits.
Hardware differences from the premium model
This model is distinct from the 14-inch Galaxy Book6 announced in January, which features Intel Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 Series 3 processors with an NPU rated at up to 49 TOPS. The premium version starts with 16GB of memory, includes a backlit keyboard, and supports a second M.2 2230 SSD. In contrast, the new cheaper model’s NPU reaches up to 15 TOPS, which falls below Microsoft’s 40+ TOPS requirement for Copilot+ PCs.
The port selection on the new model includes two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, HDMI 1.4 with support for 4K at 30 Hz, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The January model offers two USB Type-A ports, a microSD slot, an RJ45 Ethernet port, an S-Lock, and a second SSD slot. The new version is slightly lighter, weighing 1.35 kg compared to 1.48 kg for the premium model, but it is slightly thicker at 15.7mm versus 14.9mm.
Battery and availability
The laptop features a 61.2 Wh battery. Samsung claims up to 25 hours of video playback and states that the included 45W USB-C adapter can charge the device to approximately 33% in 30 minutes. The new Galaxy Book6 is scheduled to reach Samsung.com and Amazon in the US by October 5 for $799.99. A global version is listed for select markets, with Samsung confirming a £799 starting price for the UK.
