The Ruins of Lordaeron: Exploring Arthas's Homeland in World of Warcraft: Forever
In the upcoming World of Warcraft: Forever, players will shift their focus from the depths of the Undercity to the surface. A new low-level dungeon, Ruins of Lordaeron, has been introduced, set directly within the ruined streets of the former capital, situated right above the Forsaken stronghold.
Designed for levels 15–20, the dungeon serves as an ideal destination for Horde players who have finished leveling in Silverpine Forest and The Barrens. The primary objective is to assist the Forsaken in reclaiming the area. A mysterious, foul mist currently blankets the streets and graveyards, with Rath'mael the Necromancer identified as the source of the fog.

The dungeon features a variety of encounters and narrative threads:

- Witherfang: The first boss, a giant spider, from which players must extract venom for the apothecary Theodore Griffs.
- The Baron: A massive Abomination revealed to be the former Alliance Grand General, Othmar.
- Viktor the Vile: A boss encountered after surviving five successive waves of Scourge attacks.
- Bjork: A giant ghoul that blocks the path to the central graveyard.
- Rath'mael: The mastermind behind the mist, serving as the final confrontation.

The environment is rich with lore-driven objectives. Players can recover the Crest of Lordaeron to turn in to Lady Dina Kennedy for the Alliance or Oran Snakewrithe for the Horde. The narrative also weaves through personal quests, such as the search for Edward, husband of Tabitha Heartweaver, and a branching questline involving the fate of her son, Jeremy, in Duskwood.

While the setting is deeply rooted in the legacy of the Lordaeron Massacre, the immediate gameplay focuses on the struggle between the Forsaken and the lingering forces of the Scourge.
