Riot Games replaces VALORANT agent contracts with Mastery System
Riot Games has overhauled the agent progression system in VALORANT. Replacing the old contracts, the new Mastery System ties character development directly to player usage and match effectiveness.
Under the new system, an agent's mastery level will depend on how often a player uses a specific character and their performance during matches. As players progress, they can unlock various cosmetic rewards, including pistol skins, titles, sprays, gun buddies, and exclusive music tracks or sound themes.
The update also introduces Agent ID, a new element for profile customization. Players will be able to personalize their profiles with unique agent artwork, borders, card styles, and backgrounds. This system will also track statistics and achievements, such as total wins and first kills achieved with a specific agent.

Previously, after the removal of contracts, cosmetics could be unlocked using Kingdom Credits. Riot Games is shifting its approach once again, turning agent progression into a full-fledged system of levels and rewards. The Mastery System is set to arrive with Update 13.06, scheduled for release on September 16.
