Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Split Fire Launches
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege has launched Operation Split Fire across all platforms, introducing a new defender, a high-level competitive mode, and significant map and balance updates.
The season's headline addition is Noor, a three-speed, three-health defender designed to counter shield operators. His unique gadget, the Gore Spear Launcher, fires up to five projectiles that penetrate shields and destructible surfaces before igniting the area. These projectiles can be fired through floors, ceilings, and from adjacent rooms, and can destroy defensive objects like Castle's Armor Panels and Azami's Kiba Barriers. Noor wields the Commando 9 and ALDA 5.56 as primaries, with the 1911 TACOPS and Bailiff 410 as secondaries, alongside a Deployable Shield or Barbed Wire.
The update also debuts the Legend Division, a solo queue leaderboard for the highest-level players. Entry requires reaching Champion rank in the current season, Platinum in the previous one, and maintaining a positive reputation. Players must also have Secure Boot, Windows HVCI, TPM 2.0, and two-factor authentication enabled. The top 100 players will receive special badges indicating their final position.
Balance changes affect several operators and weapons. Dokkaebi's Jegeo Payload has been modified, while Impact's EMP Grenades were replaced with Breach Charges. Kapkan now deals 62 damage, and Echo's Sound Burst recovery time was reduced to 15 seconds. The SMG-12 received a significant nerf, with damage dropping to 16 and magazine size falling to 22 rounds, whereas the SPSMG9 saw a small buff, increasing its damage from 33 to 35.
Map updates include a major rework of Villa, where the basement and garage areas were redesigned to create new attacking routes and defensive setups. The garage was moved indoors, and the bomb site layout was changed. Further adjustments were made to Stadium Alpha, Stadium Bravo, and House.
Players can also try Arcade 3x3, a limited-time mode featuring three-player teams, a maximum of seven rounds, and a 30-second preparation phase. The mode includes an exhaustion mechanic where operators used to win a round become unavailable for subsequent rounds. Additionally, the Wasteland Circuit event offers a three-week post-apocalyptic racing experience where players control bots and compete for points based on finishing positions.
Quality-of-life improvements include a redesigned settings menu, improved graphics scaling on PC, and clearer visual feedback for button-hold actions. New players now deal reduced friendly-fire damage, and the Quick Match playlist features a minimap. The surrender system has been updated, and training playlists include new maps and additional operators.
