Phoenix Cyclops to be the first DLC character in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Phoenix Cyclops is set to become the first downloadable content (DLC) character for the 4v4 tag fighter MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Arc System Works have confirmed the release date for November 2, 2026.
The decision to feature this specific version of the character stemmed from internal development discussions. While Cyclops was initially a leading candidate for the standard Unbreakable X-Men roster, the team sought to offer a fresh visual and combat identity. This led to the decision to develop a version empowered by the Phoenix Force to provide an unexpected experience for long-time fans.
In terms of gameplay, Phoenix Cyclops functions as an all-rounder, utilizing versatile Optic Blasts for both long-range and close-range combat. A standout mechanic involves collecting four Solar Shards to trigger a transformation into the Dark Phoenix form. While this state provides a significant power boost, it carries the risk of health depletion, forcing players to carefully manage the destructive energy.
To accommodate fans who prefer the traditional look, the DLC includes alternative costumes. In addition to the core Phoenix design, players will have access to the “Classic” and “Legacy” skins, ensuring the character's iconic comic book aesthetic remains available.
Attendees of EVO France (October 9–11) will have the opportunity to play as Phoenix Cyclops during the event before the official launch. MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is currently available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
