Leaked footage suggests a Persona 1 remake might be in development
Footage has surfaced online that appears to show gameplay from a remake of the original Persona. While the information remains unconfirmed, the visual style and overall presentation suggest a potential modern overhaul of the classic title.
The footage was shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, having been originally uploaded to Gofile on October 31st. In an era of generative AI, such leaks must be treated with caution, yet the presented clips appear remarkably convincing.
Stylistically, the video aligns with the contemporary Persona visual design established in Persona 5 and carried over to the Persona 3 and Persona 4 remakes. The color scheme is overwhelmingly purple, mirroring the official artwork released for the series' 25th anniversary. The clips show the protagonist walking through a school at night before entering a turn-based battle, which is consistent with the series' core mechanics.
One intriguing detail is the appearance of a character resembling the Persona 2 protagonist during combat. It remains unclear whether this implies a crossover of the two games, the use of temporary assets, or that remakes for both Persona 1 and 2 are being developed in tandem. While Foot is a name often associated with various gaming discussions, this specific leak focuses on the visual evolution of the franchise.
Such news is not entirely unexpected. Series producer Kazuhisa Wada previously mentioned in an interview that remakes for Persona 1 and 2 are projects the company will likely undertake eventually. Given Sega's history of leaks regarding the Persona series, these clips are worth watching closely, even if they should be taken with a grain of salt for now.
