Perplexity’s Local AI Agent for Windows Requires 24GB VRAM
Perplexity has announced the arrival of its local AI agent for Windows. The solution is designed to handle complex, multi-step tasks directly on a user's machine, though it comes with significant hardware requirements.
To run the agent, users will need an NVIDIA RTX series GPU with a minimum of 24GB of video memory (VRAM). This requirement effectively limits the software to high-end hardware, such as the RTX 3090, RTX 3090 Ti, or RTX 4090, as well as professional-grade accelerators.
By processing tasks locally rather than relying solely on the cloud, the Perplexity agent aims to automate sequences of actions for various user requests using the PC's own compute power. Currently, the feature is restricted to compatible systems that meet the specific memory threshold.
