Pearl Abyss launches 'Hyper Boost' system in Black Desert Online to aid new players

Pearl Abyss has launched a new permanent growth system called 'Hyper Boost' in Black Desert Online (BDO). Starting on July 29, it is designed for new players, returning users, and those who need support to access main content. Inven journalist Kim Gyu-man personally tested the system and noted that it differs from standard 'quick power-up' events.

Unlike typical events where players can simply get max level or gear without effort, 'Hyper Boost' in BDO requires completing specific tasks. Developers emphasized adaptation to the game's structure and content rather than just instant character strengthening.

Four Stages of the Journey

The system is divided into four main stages aimed at bringing the character to 730 'Combo Attack/Defense' (KZ). In BDO, this metric is a basic measure of combat power and affects location selection for hunting. Previously, Pearl Abyss stated that with around 730 KZ, players could fully participate in boss raids and weekly events.

The first stage begins with creating a 'Seasonal Character'. Within the seasonal system reform, creating a new hero is now simpler: just select the option in the menu without using paid items. The main feature is simplified gear acquisition. Previously, newcomers had to go through a complex path from 'Naru' to 'Tuvalla', but now as the level rises, the system automatically grants an enhanced version of Tuvalla (V-level).

Olvia Academy and Weapons

After reaching level 60 and completing the season, the player is transferred to 'Olvia Academy'. Here, they need to complete a combat arts course, the goal of which is to collect five pieces of 'Black Star' (V-level) weapons. Important: these items cannot simply be worn or gifted to other characters, as they are needed to create the next type of equipment — 'Royal Weapons'.

After training at the academy, the player receives a set of 'Karazad' accessories (V-level). To exchange them, resources like 'Dawn Water' and 'Sharp Black Crystals' are required, which can be bought on the auction. Even without extra effort, the character becomes significantly stronger than before.

Journey to the Land of Dawn

The next stage is a transition to the new location 'Land of Dawn' (Ahyum). Here, players must complete story quests based on Korean folk tales. The main goal is to collect four types of 'Taiga' armor and create 'Royal Weapons' at the Phoenix statue.

Gathering armor requires completing all chapters of the legendary battles: from the Monk's story to the final battle with Sangun. Pearl Abyss has lowered boss difficulty so newcomers can pass them without problems. Killing world bosses in this location grants resources for creating missing parts of 'Royal Weapons'.

Conclusion and Future

After completing all stages, the player reaches a KZ slightly below 700. This is enough to comfortably explore main game zones. However, the system does not stop here: the player must independently upgrade the 'Karazad' accessory to a higher level.

'Hyper Boost' is not a magic button for instant top-tier status, but a mentorship system. It helps newcomers and returning users understand game mechanics, pass initial stages, and choose their path in the vast world of Black Desert Online.
