Official: Riot Games Eases League of Legends Tournament Rules
Tournament organizers for League of Legends have received significant relief: Riot Games has simplified event launch rules, removing several financial restrictions and introducing a unified application form.
New requirements were published on August 3 on the official LoL Esports website. Organizers of regional, online, school, collegiate, and other championships can now fill out a special form regardless of format or competition level. In most cases, operators will no longer need to wait for separate company approval before launching a championship.
Removal of Financial Limits
The updated rules cancel previous limits on entry fees, prize pool size, spectator ticket prices, and revenue from sponsorship deals. Organizers must still adhere to Riot Games' requirements for intellectual property use and cannot present a third-party competition as part of the official LoL Esports ecosystem without appropriate permission.
Simplified Process for Educational Institutions
The company has also simplified the process for holding school and collegiate tournaments. Riot Games hopes that unified rules will reduce administrative burdens and allow organizers to more quickly create competitions for local communities.
Previously, Riot Games presented a full preview of patch 26.16 for League of Legends. In the update, developers will buff Kennen, Gwen, and Azir, nerf Poppy, Camille, and Bel'Veth, increase base magic resistance for marksmen, and adjust several items and systems.
