NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix 616.86 fixes browser flickering and RDP black screens
NVIDIA has released GeForce Hotfix Driver 616.86 for Windows 10 and Windows 11, addressing three specific display-related issues. The update primarily targets intermittent screen flickering in web browsers and black screens encountered during Remote Desktop Protocol sessions.
The new hotfix is based on the recently released Game Ready Driver 616.64. According to NVIDIA, two of the bugs fixed in this package were introduced following the update to driver version 616.56. The first issue addressed is intermittent screen flickering that could occur when visiting certain websites in a browser. The company did not specify which browsers or specific sites were affected by this behavior.
The second fix restores the ability to create virtual displays on systems that lost this functionality after installing driver 616.56. The third correction targets Remote Desktop Protocol sessions, which could display a black screen after the same driver update. These fixes are particularly relevant for users who rely on remote access or virtual display configurations for their workflows.
NVIDIA classifies Hotfix releases as optional beta drivers. These builds undergo a shorter quality assurance process compared to regular WHQL-certified releases. The company states that these specific fixes will be included in its next official driver release, after which the Hotfix package will be removed from the download site.
