NVIDIA DGX Spark drops to 64GB memory but costs more than the original 128GB version

NVIDIA has announced a new 64GB configuration for the DGX Spark, effectively cutting the unified memory capacity in half compared to the original 128GB system. However, this reduction in memory comes with a surprising price increase.

Pricing and Availability

The new 64GB DGX Spark systems are scheduled to become available through manufacturing partners—including Acer, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, and MSI—starting October 23. The starting price for these OEM systems is set at $4,999.

This pricing structure is highly unusual. The original 128GB Founders Edition previously carried an MSRP of $3,999, meaning the new 64GB version starts $1,000 (or 25%) higher than the original 128GB model. Even when compared to the current 128GB Founders Edition MSRP of $4,699, the 64GB configuration remains $300 more expensive. While NVIDIA notes that these are not directly equivalent products—as OEM partners will determine their own specific configurations and regional pricing—the upward trend in cost is evident.

Hardware and AI Capabilities

Under the hood, the 64GB version retains the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, DGX OS, and the NVIDIA AI software stack. However, the reduced memory capacity directly impacts the scale of AI models that can be handled. While the original 128GB DGX Spark could run models with up to 200 billion parameters, the 64GB version is limited to models with up to 100 billion parameters.

NVIDIA is also marketing the 64GB variant for use in clusters, though the specific target audience for this particular configuration remains unclear given the premium pricing.
