Noctua teases a monitor for GPU power connectors
Noctua has teased a forthcoming product that looks to be a specialized version of Thermal Grizzly’s WireView Pro II. This device is designed to monitor 12V2x6 power connectors on graphics cards, providing real-time alerts to prevent connector melting caused by improper load distribution.
Real-time power monitoring
Based on the teaser, the Noctua Edition will function as a monitoring module that sits between the PSU cable and the GPU socket. It features a 320×170 IPS screen that provides a real-time readout of the current on each individual pin of the 16-pin cable. This allows users to detect unusual electrical patterns before they lead to physical damage.
The device includes both audio and visual warnings to alert users to potential issues. This functionality is particularly relevant given recent discussions regarding power connector reliability; for instance, a standard WireView Pro II reportedly failed when used with a GeForce RTX 5090 after warnings were ignored. The goal of this hardware is to provide an early warning system for such electrical anomalies.
Enhanced cooling by Noctua
The primary differentiator for the Noctua version is its integrated cooling solution. A prototype seen at Computex utilized a frameless NF-A4x10 fan and a custom-designed grille. Noctua claims this setup offers significantly quieter operation than the standard Thermal Grizzly version.
The fan operates semi-passively, remaining silent during idle states and ramping up under load to provide powerful cooling for the connections when the GPU is under heavy stress. While the teaser confirms the product is in development, specific release dates and pricing have not yet been announced.
