Nintendo declares November 1 "Pikmin Day"
Nintendo has officially designated November 1 as "Pikmin Day." The date 11.1 was chosen as a tribute to the original trio of Red, Blue, and Yellow Pikmin, representing them standing in a line. The announcement came during the Pikmin Day Direct showcase, which also featured a deep dive into the upcoming Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, updates for the Pikmin Bloom app, and a new animated series.
The centerpiece of the presentation was Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, scheduled for release on November 12. This enhanced version for the Nintendo Switch 2 introduces voice command capabilities for the Rescue Pup, Oatchi. Using the console's built-in microphone, players can issue up to nine different commands, such as "Rush!" or "Go to work!." The edition also introduces Dandori Academy, a mode where players can hone their planning and treasure-collecting skills through timed challenges and exams held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
A free demo of Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy will be available on the Nintendo eShop later today. The demo includes the Sun-Speckled Terrace opening area and two stages within the Dandori Academy.
The Pikmin Bloom smartphone app is also getting an update this winter. A new adventure will allow users to explore Secret Caves to find treasures and face creatures. By linking the app with the new Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch 2, players can earn special in-app rewards, such as cave maps, by completing exams in the game.
Nintendo Pictures is also launching a new ongoing short movie series titled "Hello! Pikmin." The first episodes are available now on the Nintendo Today! app and other Nintendo channels, produced in collaboration with Shigeru Miyamoto.
To celebrate the occasion, the Pikmin Ability Collection—a line of products inspired by the unique strengths of different Pikmin types—has launched exclusively at Nintendo NEW YORK, Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO, and the Nintendo Store.
